1). Song of the Day: The Afters - ♫ You Lift Me Up ♫

2). Blog Entry: Testimonies
- I heard from a DYD yesterday. He finished his District Council last week. He had a resolution to try and raise his budget, but the leadership asked him to pull it before the business meeting. Though he wanted to push the issue, he respected their authority and submitted to their wishes. During a service, his Superintendent felt that God wanted him to let the DYD share his heart for youth ministry in their district. After his presentation, pastors began to stand up and declare that they were stepping up their personal giving towards the Youth Department. Their yearly budget more than doubled after all the goals came in. God honored him for honoring his leadership.

Monday - Life Lessons

1). Song of the Day: Daniel Bashta - ♫ Like a Lion ♫

2). Blog Entry: Life Lessons
- I like to go the gym and workout when I have the time. I try to get a little activity in every day when possible. In Grand Island, there are two YMCA locations and one is an Express site near my home. It is smaller, but more modern with workout equipment, machines, and free weights (no gym, pool, etc.) I love it because it's close, it's quick, and I have a magnetized key that gives me access though there isn't a worker on sight 24/7.
- Though convenient, it doesn't mean it's always ideal. I was switching between workout equipment, moving to a cycling machine. There was only one available, and it was right in between two ladies who were talking and having a conversation. They were a little older but very nice, not the normal young and serious attendee. I like to watch some TV and there was one located directly in front of my machine, but we couldn't locate the remote. After about 20 minutes, the ladies finished up and got off their machines. One of the ladies looked down and said 'OH MY' as she found the missing remote - she'd been sitting on it the whole time but didn't even notice! Had she held it out to me and asked if I'd like to use it, I think I would have passed.

That money will be used towards physical improvements on the campgrounds, immediately benefitting our summer camps! Would you be willing to help me raise that money and support our camp? - Last week, our Nebraska District had a big event. Throughout the event, we tried to change a few things and make it more comfortable and relational, inspiring more honest discussion throughout. We recently sent out an internet survey to further keep the conversations going ang get more feedback.
- We live in a society that wants to be heard. Social media and the internet have made it so easy to comment on just about anything. Our leadership styles need to consider this cultural norm and provide for times where others can discuss our plans and give us valuable feedback. Not only will it be good for others to feel more involved in what we are doing together, but it will also provide us with valuable information in making quality decisions as we forge ahead with vision and purpose.

Monday - Life Lessons

1). Song of the Day: Mikeschair - ♫ Someone Worth Dying For ♫

2). Blog Entry: Life Lessons
- Cell Phones can be valuable in today's world, but only if we use them accordingly! I had the privilege of leading worship yesterday at my church in Grand Island. I get up early to come in for practice and then my family comes later when church starts. Whenever I lead, I usually play the acoustic guitar as well. With the setup like that, I empty my pockets of my wallet, keys, and phone and stick them on the side of the stage.
- When my wife tried to get in the van with the kids, it didn't start. They tried to text me and email me to come and get them, which I could have done after the worship set was done, but I didn't get the message because my phone was sitting on the side of the stage throughout the service. Woops. Cell phones are great, but not helpful at all if you can't get to them.

- A pastor came to me at District Council this week. Last year, they had more than doubled their BGMC giving, setting a new record for their young church. This year, they set an aggressive goal of $2,000. They once again supported March Missions Madness for BGMC, and after 3 weeks of a 4 week drive, they had already raised $2,001 with one week to go.
- Last night we honored our elders at District Council. 3 of our honored ministers sat on stage, with over 100 years of ministry experience combined. We went to them with small flasks of oil, poured it into a larger container of theirs at their feet, and then asked them to pray a blessing over us. It was a powerful time of showing respect to those that have gone on before us and empowering our church to be a multi-generational movement in our state.

Monday - Life Lessons

1). Song of the Day:Trin-I-Tee 5:7 - ♫ Heaven Hear my Heart ♫

2). Blog Entry: Life Lessons
- Last week I took some extra time to pray for our upcoming NE Youth and Kids Camps. The first day was fine, but it was really hard to enter into a prayerful countenance. I like to pray outside when I can and it was very windy and cold. The next few days it kept getting better and better, and about the 4th day in I had some of the best prayer time I have had in a long time. I considered my surroundings, and I realized that not much had changed. I was still outside, it was still rather windy (as it often is in central NE) and rather cold. The outside hadn't changed, but I had. After a few days of sacrificing other things to be with God, I suddenly realized how noisy my life had become. God was always a simple prayer away, but I had distanced myself by being consumed with so many other things. Take some time to de-clutter your life this week and press in to be close with God.

- Change is in the air, but it's not always easy to process. It is on its way to Libya, but it's dictator is standing in the way. It is on it's way in our government, but the opposing sides of Congress are trying to stand their ground and hold it off as long as they can. It's on it's way in the NFL, but the owners and players and still trying to decide which way is best.
- Change is also coming in our Nebraska district. After our last Presbyters meeting in March, we rallied together behind our vision to see 250 churches and 500 leaders in Nebraska. We realized that to get there we must deal with budget issues, and the departmental budget in the most serious crisis is our camp. Rather than 'kicking the can' down the road for the next generation of leaders to deal with, we decided to make the hard decisions for change now.
- This involves a shift in strategy, adjustment of our staff and master plan, and greater commitment and sacrifice on the part of our camp board members and constituents at large. It's not always easy to process, but should be better for us in the future. When we accomplish our vision, we will look back on these difficult days with joy, knowing how important it was in the process.
- Please pray for our camp staff in transition. Please pray for our summer camps this year. And please consider the change that God might be bringing your way, and embrace if fullydespite the possible challenges involved.

They took me to a restaurant that was 5 miles outside of town. It was literally, 'in the middle of nowhere'. At first thought, you might think this would mean it wasn't a good place. In fact, it was wonderful. It was called the Country Neighbor, and I had an amazing dish of Chicken Fettucini Alfredo. I hope to go back some day and bring my wife with me to enjoy it again.
