- The last session of our Ministers Winter Retreat last month in Kearney, NE was titled 'How to have a good church fight' You can download the audio of the message here (connect as a guest then download). Rod Loy mentioned that there are 3 main levels of fights within the church. The first is focused around the Essentials. These are the doctrines of our faith, the intangibles that make us who we are. The second category is fights over traditions. These revolve around the methods and practices that we have been using in our churches for many years. Finally, many fights in churches occur because of difference of opinion. We must decide with our churches that we will only choose to 'fight' over the essentials - if it's not an essential than it's not worth a true fight. Too many church divisions and disruptive splits occur because of problems with opinions or traditions.

6). Miscellaneous: Today is National Freedom Day. It is also the Speed the Light Rally for the Northwest Section of Nebraska in Alliance at 7pm. It is the birthday of famous American Actor Clark Gable from 1901. Finally, it is the anniversary of the day that the Communications Decency Act was passed by Congress in 1996.
