As Youth and Children's Leaders, most of us spend a significant amount of time preparing and delivering messages in front of groups, both big and small. The more we can improve as communicators, the more effective the impact in their lives. Here are some questions that Andy Stanley asks himself when he's finished with the preparation of his message, and before he stands to deliver it (from the book 'Deep and Wide'):

     - 1. Is the content helpful? Sometimes it's intellectual, but not applicable.
     - 2. Does it offer a new perspective? Will it make people think like they haven't before?
     - 3. Does it provide next steps? Do you help them know how to apply it next?
     - 4. Is it audience specific? Is it appropriate for the group you are presenting to?

1). Song of the Day: Brandon Heath - ♫ Love Does ♫

2). Blog Entry: Life Lessons
     - This past weekend was our annual Kids Convention in Nebraska. We had a great time at our campgrounds in Lexington, NE. Saturday morning we had many children up front at the altar area praying to discover the talents God had given them to use for Him. We were singing the song 'How Great is our God'. I began to speak and felt like God led me to ask for children that needed God to be great in a difficult area of their lives. So many hands went up it shocked me. We prayed for them and moved on, but I couldn't get the image out of my mind. Kids are often the unfortunate victims of the issues that plague parents and families lives. We must fight for our kids because the enemy is as well.

Being kind goes a long way. The past week we had our annual spring CE Committee meeting, to organize and discuss all things pertaining to Children's Ministries in Nebraska. One of my committee members, Scott, volunteered to bring a couple pies as a treat. He showed up with an amazing Peanut Butter Cup Pie as well as a French Silk. People dug into them before we even broke for a snack break. Everyone loved them. What was amazing was that Scott had to leave a little early for other business, and he didn't even get to have a piece himself. Also, we found out later it was National Pi Day; a great coincidence. How can you go the extra mile in making people around you feel great today?

2). Blog Entry: Life Lessons
     - Yesterday was an unusual Sunday. It was the day after Daylight Savings, and it was also a tough morning because we were in a blizzard warning. It wasn't intense as far as snow amounts, but the wind was outrageous. It was extremely inconvenient because I was leading worship at my church and two of my kids were being baptized. It was a scarce crowd, but it was still a great service. After service, we went to a local restaurant that is usually slammed with people, but it was very roomy and we were able to get our large group right in. My wife had an open house, as a realtor, but she figured it would probably yield no clients in bad weather. Instead, an older couple was very interested in the house and she has an appointment to meet with them later this week. Though we thought it was going to be a bad day and ruin our plans, it wound up being a great day and much was accomplished. Just because there's a bad forecast, don't give up hope.
