1). Blog Entry: Leaders Corner - Leaders or Followers?
In an article for Canadian Youth Workers, the author discusses the growing trend of focusing on developing leaders, which isn't a bad thing. But sometimes, it can be premature when we need to do all we can to help our people grow in discipleship, the art of following Jesus. When we rush students into leadership before they are ready, it can cause them to burn out, grow cold in their faith, or develop a prideful attitude believing that they are able to do their role without God's help. Leaders will always be tested, several times in fact, and it's in those moments that the true heart of passion for Christ is revealed. The best leaders are the best followers, and they never forget it! Check out the article HERE.

1). Blog Entry: Life Lessons - Small World
Yesterday we visited a church led by a pastor who was a character in Abby's play, 'Annie'. It was a planned reunion with several of the cast members and we enjoyed it greatly. After the service, we gathered together at Godfather's for a meal and to connect some more. As we began to talk with the mom of one of Abby's best friends in the play, we discovered that they attended church just down the street from where we used to live (until this weekend, when we moved!). We knew that she was a strong Christian, but we didn't know where they went to church. We found out literally one day after we moved. We're still fairly close since we only moved across town, but we lived almost next door to a place that they frequently attended and didn't even know it. LIFE LESSON - It's a smaller world than we realize. Reach out, make friends, and enjoy your neighbors today!

1). Blog Entry: Dads
This past weekend I was visiting a church, speaking to honor their graduates. Before I spoke, I met a young lady who was moving to Oklahoma in six days to live with her father. After the service, a man came up who knew me from a visit to a different city a few years back. He had moved to this city because his mom married a man from that town. Later in the day, I was reading a devotional journal that mentioned the impact a lack of a father can have on a child's confidence, academic achievement, financial stability, and life controlling addictions. At the end of the day, I was watching the Finale of 'The Amazing Race' with my kids. I paused and looked around the room at my children with the thought that I was glad I get to be a dad and enjoy my time with my children. LIFE LESSON - Kids need Dads. That's the way God made us.      Last week, I had the chance to visit North Central University in Minneapolis, MN for Board of Regents Meetings and their graduation ceremony. During the meetings, their Vice President of Student Activities announced that they were working with the city to build a professional caliber soccer field. The city will fund most of it and use it for different inner city leagues, but the college will be able to name it and use it for regular purposes for soccer and lacrosse leagues. 1). Blog Entry: Life Lessons - Be Living
I often workout and read books at the same time. I'm recuperating my right knee following surgery last fall, so I spend several hours each week on a stationary bike, with my Kindle keeping me company. It's my pattern to read and take notes using the Evernote App on my phone at the same time. As I was taking a particular note about what we believe, I began to write the word 'BELIEVE'. As many of us know, my phone auto-corrected it to a different word that I found very interested. BELIEVE become BE LIVING. And isn't that the point? LIFE LESSON - Don't just believe it, be living it as well!
