We all serve someone. Even those in top leadership positions have organizations set up that they need to answer to and be accountable with. When we take a position at a church, we are called to serve that Pastor and support them. Here's three tips for how to do that well, from Scotty Gibbons, National Youth Strategist:

1. Discover your leaders vision and make it your own
2. Work hard at communicating effectively with your leader
3. Keep your leader appraised of what's going on in your work - both good and bad.

1). Blog Entry: Life Lessons - Stimulants
Drugs and Alcohol are unfortunately a normal part of our society. Young people often grow up in an atmosphere where these are not only OK but encouraged, in order to have a good time. At my wedding, we chose not to have alcohol provided at the reception. Some of our guests were surprised and even a bit offended, but after the celebration ensued they didn't even notice because we still had a great time without the stimulants. This past weekend my boys and their cousin were outside at a park in Bellevue filming a fun music video (Check out their page on youtube, MoeCloth Films). They were wearing older suits and dancing. A neighbor lady came out and started snapping photos of them in an angry posture. Once they noticed her, she yelled out to them, 'Are you on something?' Again, the assumption was that when kids were having fun, they must have been on alcohol or drugs. LIFE LESSON - As Christians, we are poised to show the world that we can continue to have a great time without chemical stimulants that effect our behavior and decision making abilities.

1). Blog Entry: Life Lessons - Kindness
Yesterday I had the privilege of being on the worship team at church. I came in early with the rest of the team members to get our instruments ready and practice the worship set. As we were practicing, I watched the pastor take a chair out of one of the sections. He then proceeded to wheel in his personal office chair to take its' place. I figured he was doing it for one of his many sermon illustrations, later in the service.
After the church began and we finished our worship time, I sat down with my wife to enjoy the message. He was speaking about missions, and I couldn't figure out what the illustration may be. Then I looked over at the chair and it then became obvious what he was doing. There was a nice lady with a tough medical condition sitting in the comfortable office chair in the congregation. He was bringing out his chair for someone to use because if she didn't have that kind of a chair, she wouldn't be able to attend the service and sit through the program. LIFE LESSON - Be willing to give up your chair to those in need.

Most of us have heard about how our God loves us. Even this morning, my daughter and I read John 3:16 in our breakfast devotions, which mentions how 'God so loved the world'. 1). Blog Entry: Life Lessons - Deals
This past weekend my family and I had the opportunity to travel to Denver for the Easter holiday. It was a great time for my kids, my wife and her mom to get away and celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus our Savior. As we were leaving home, at the last second I grabbed a gift card for Chile's Restaurant. We don't have one nearby our home so we thought we might have an opportunity to stop sometime over the weekend. On Saturday, we were walking around the downtown outside mall and we found a Chile's for lunch, but then we realized that we had left the card in our car. That night we went to dinner at a nice Italian place called Maggiano's, a place we had gone 10 years earlier when on a trip for National Fine Arts. The next day, after church we met a friend at a Chile's Restaurant for lunch after church. After we used our gift card and paid the bill, we looked at the back of the card and discovered that we could have used the card at a Maggiano's as well. LIFE LESSON - Don't worry so much about the best deals all the time and enjoy the moments!
